Dissemination: Our Services & Expertise

The internet, digital technologies, and portable device capabilities have transformed the creation and dissemination of health-related information. NERI’s Dissemination Research works with clients to seize the new digital opportunities, both for the distribution of health-related messages and as a potent tool for research and medical interventions.

For the past 20 years, NERI has been an award-winning producer of health-related educational media programs with a long list of titles currently in distribution. NERI focuses on disseminating research findings by creating media products targeted to the needs of the specific populations who can benefit from these findings (parents, providers, children, general public, etc).

Our research objectives include:

  • Development and commercialization of communication strategies tailored to affect health-related behaviors, knowledge, skills, or attitudes
  • Objective evaluation of technologies that support physicians, allied healthcare professionals, clinical investigators, policy makers, regulators, and educators
  • Support for other NERI research programs that may include or depend upon digital media and communications technologies

NERI producers, directors, writers, and project managers offer decades of experience and award-winning skills to our clients. For any given project, NERI selects a production partner from award winning media production companies to implement the project under the direction of seasoned NERI media staff. Media and communication services we offer include:

  • Media based research (dissemination, evaluation, web based training, comparative effectiveness)
  • Digital video production and direction (on-location or studio)
  • Digital audio production
  • Production, design, and programming for web-based programs
  • Production and design for hand-held electronic devices
  • Script writing (documentary or dramatic)
  • Talent selection (video and audio)
  • Complete project direction and supervision
  • Supervision of all required post-production activities (editing, music, voice-over, distribution)
  • Medical writing and editing (for journal articles, presentations, conferences, etc)
  • Creation of medical and scientific PowerPoint slide presentations
  • Design, implementation, and statistical analysis of research projects using or evaluating digital media

NERI producers, directors, and writers are not simply communication experts with decades of experience—they are also deeply familiar with the medical and scientific topics that are so often the focus of our media projects. NERI media staff are fluent not only in the technicalities and logistics of 21st-century media production, but also in medical science and research methods. Their long experience in conducting primary research and creating media projects involving medicine and public health allow our media staff to be effective “translators” of often complicated medical information for a general audience. Their understanding of medical terminology and medical science, in turn, allows them to easily and comfortably communicate with physicians, scientists, and researchers. Medical and scientific knowledge paired with decades of media production experience equals an unrivaled expertise capable of delivering accurate, compelling, and memorable research and communications products.

NERI has an established reputation for conducting and evaluating scientifically valid state-of-the-art media based research for over 20 years. Eighteen of the more than 35 NERI-produced media programs have won major awards including the coveted Freddie Award for excellence in health and medical media. NERI has developed programs in nearly every medium, including video, CD ROM, DVD, web-based, social media and software applications. Many of NERI’s products are CME or CE accredited and nearly all have been scientifically evaluated for effectiveness in improving one or a combination of the following: knowledge, self-efficacy, and/or behavioral intentions.

NERI-produced health education programs have won every major award in health and medical communications. In addition to three Freddie Awards, the following have also been won:
