Web site Nursing Ethics Continuing Education Web site Funded by National Institute of Nursing Research In today's rapidly changing and highly technological health-care environment, nurses frequently encounter ethical issues while providing patient care. Yet, ethics education and resources are often not readily available to practicing nurses. With funding from the National Institute of Nursing Research, NERI has developed a series of Web-based continuing-education courses to enhance nurses' ethical decision-making and advocacy roles. The program includes eight courses, focusing on the advocacy role of the nurse in caring for the elderly, the dying, infants and children, patients participating in research, patients with HIV/AIDs, patients receiving life-sustaining treatments, and genetic testing. Each course maximizes use of Web interactive features, such as case studies, questions and answers with immediate feedback, photographs and audio, interactive charts and tables, hyperlinks to cited references, and videotaped expert commentaries. CE credits (from 2.0 to 2.8 hours) are provided upon successful completion of the online CE test. The program is available at www.nursingethicsce.com.
