About NERIKey Staff Bios > Andre Araujo, PhDAndre Araujo, PhD Dr. Araujo is a chronic disease epidemiologist and NERI’s Director of Epidemiology, which conducts large, population-based observational epidemiologic studies. The work of this group is internationally recognized and includes several therapeutic areas including endocrinology, frailty, geriatrics, pain, osteoporosis, and urology. Dr. Araujo is responsible for oversight of all Epidemiology programs as well as development and implementation of state-of-the-science research in this area. With over 10 years of experience in the design, conduct and analysis of epidemiologic studies, Dr. Araujo has a leadership role on three of NERI’s largest epidemiologic studies which address important health concerns of aging men. He is Co-Investigator on the landmark Massachusetts Male Aging Study (MMAS) and the Registry of Hypogonadism in Men (RHYME) as well as Principal Investigator of the Boston Area Community Health/Bone (BACH/Bone) Survey. His scientific areas of expertise include epidemiology, men’s health, musculoskeletal health, and endocrine function. Dr. Araujo received his doctorate in epidemiology from the Yale University School of Medicine’s Department of Epidemiology and Public Health. He was recipient of a pre-doctoral National Institutes of Health National Research Service Award in the epidemiology of aging. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, and serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for several other medical and epidemiology journals. He has published over 40 papers in top-tier peer-reviewed medical journals. |
