Comprehensive health insurance is effective upon your date of hire. Our health benefits include preventive care as well as inpatient and outpatient services to help employees manage and improve their health and wellness. Our medical plan, provided through Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, includes a vision benefit, health club membership reimbursement, and access to nutrition and weight loss programs. Additionally NERI's Toolkit for Wellness program offers the opportunity to work with a personalized health coach to identify and address any health related issues. This program is HIPPA compliant and maintains strict confidentiality between the participant and their coach.
Prescription drug benefits are available at retail pharmacies or through a mail order program through the health plan.
Our Blue Cross Dental plan offers an extensive network of providers that accept pre-negotiated, reduced fees for both preventive services and treatments. NERI pays 100% of the dental premium for both individual and family enrollments.
Our medical plan is subject to annual deductibles. At this time NERI pays 50% ($1,000) of the annual $2,000 individual deductible, and 50% ($2,000) of the annual family deductible of $4,000 through a Health Reimbursement Account.
NERI employees can reduce their taxes with a Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA). This program lets staff set aside pretax dollars for health-related out-of-pocket expenses. A Dependent Care FSA lets you set aside pretax dollars for day care, elder care, in-home child care or even nursery school.
In order to promote staff health, NERI maintains an on-site exercise facility. Company offices are situated alongside the Charles River, with direct access to a town-maintained bike, walking, and jogging path. NERI offers secured bike parking inside the building. There are also showers for those who wish to freshen up after riding to work.
NERI’s 401(k) plan, administered through Fidelity provides a variety of investment options to meet different investment objectives. Our plan offers rich company matching contributions that are fully vested at time of enrollment.

NERI offers an opportunity for employees who wish to observe additional cultural or religious holidays not included in the 10 standard holidays to exchange up to 3 designated holidays for those observances.
NERI offers a paid time off program that includes sick, personal, and vacation time. Paid time off is accrued each payroll period with a maximum of 185 hours/year for the first five years of employment, and 250 hours/year beginning the sixth consecutive year. Employee accrual balance cannot exceed 2x their annual accrual. Paid time off is provided for the death of an immediate family member. Jury Duty and Military Leave allow for regular pay during some or all of required service.
NERI has a policy allowing for flexibility in work scheduling, within standard business hours. An employee may work with his or her manager to determine the feasibility and specifics of a flexible schedule, based on the needs of the business and the employee.
NERI is easily accessible by public transportation and the company subsidizes 25% of the cost of a monthly MBTA pass for eligible employees, with the employee portion paid through payroll deduction. Based on availability, eligible employees not enrolled in the MBTA Pass Program may qualify for company-paid, on-site parking.
