Multidimensional Quality of Life Questionnaire for Persons with HIV (MQOL-HIV)
The MQOL-HIV is a brief, easily administered multi-domain measure of quality of life that addresses issues especially relevant for people with HIV and AIDS. The MQOL-HIV consists of 40 items measuring 10 major quality-of-life domains. Respondents are asked how often they have experienced each item in the past two weeks. The questionnaire takes less than 10 minutes to complete, and may be administered by mail, telephone, or in-person interview. The instrument has been translated into Spanish, German, and Japanese. Psychometric testing indicates that the questionnaire is reliable, internally consistent, and sensitive to changes in symptomatology. The MQOL-HIV is a useful supplement to clinical measures such as immune status and viral load.
